I'm sitting here thinking about being a mom. What a wonderful and horrible experience at once. There is nothing on earth like the love a of a child and there is nothing on earth like the heartache they can provide. Only a child can melt away your worries and make you know all is right in the world and then make you feel the complete opposite the next minute.
The other day i was in the basement watching BBC America during nap and quiet time (have i mentioned how much i love the BBC America???) and i had the monitor on so if anyone needed me i could quickly put on my superhero cape and fly to the aid of whatever little person happened to need me. My attention was drawn to monitor, i could hear my 6 year old singing quietly. "Jesus loves me this i know for the bible tells me so." on and on the song went. It was a beautiful simple reminder of the fact that Jesus does love me. In that moment i had total peace and comfort. Then a half hour later the same child came downstairs, broke into the peace of the afternoon and began to whine and I started wondering if i had any wine in the house.
All of this is a beautiful window into the heart of God our father. There are moments when we are doing what he created us to do. For everyone it's different, it might be playing an instrument or singing a song or creating a piece of art or for some it might be playing with our kids or hanging out with our spouse or sitting at the bedside of a dying person. What ever it is you do that makes you feel the undeniable presence of something bigger than you could ever be that's what I'm talking about. Those are the moments that we hear "yes Jesus loves me"
And in the moments we are whining about what we don't get or how things are not going our way, God is still there loving us just as much as before.
So happy mother's day to all you wonderful loving and sometimes not as patient as you should be women who do a great thing by raising your children. Have a wonderful and peaceful day and know that yes Jesus loves you...
